New MNKR & Lore Tees on AlwaysUrban.com
Tuesday, October 21st, 2008Place your bets, place your bets…

There is a 100% we are all going down. And I bet most of you realize the most dangerous thing you do every day is driving 81 feet per second (that’s 55 mph) 4 feet away from another person who is driving while eating a bacon cheeseburger (mmm, bacon).
But I doubt many of us knew how high on the “danger of death” list getting hit by an asteroid is! That is how I want to go. This graphic is from a speech given at the annual TED conference, where a room full of the best-and-brightest brainstorm about all sorts of interesting stuff. If you like Wired Magazine you should definitely check this out.
FYI, a long-long-time-ago, basically in the same place you are sitting right now a huuuuge asteroid hit the earth. It catapulted a huge chunk of molten rock into the stratosphere which we now call the moon. Violent stuff. Big boom.
Amazon is slangin’ MP3s
Wednesday, September 26th, 2007Amazon.com launched their online music download platform today. I’m gonna give it the once over ASAP, but you gotta love being able to download music without iTunes file encoding. I give Apple serious props for helping to kick-start the digital music age, but having a MP4 that I can play on my iPod, but not on my Treo is busted. The free market is gonna kick MP3 encoding right in the nuts.
Renegades of Their Time and Age…
Tuesday, September 25th, 2007The Chicago version of the Renegade Craft Fair was serving up independent fashion gems Sept. 15 & 16. We sell some brands that were reppin’ indie fashion at Renegade, and we will be adding a bunch more to Always Urban in the next month!
Pandora’s Music Box
Tuesday, September 25th, 2007Well now that Web 2.0 is kicking-it-liiive it’s definitely not just about what you know, but what everyone you have ever known, and not known, has ever known, and does Kevin Bacon know all that shit? So there are now tons of websites that are gathering tons of data and trying to help you find something new. Well I’m putting my seal-of-approval on Pandora.com. It is a free “radio” website that creates a station based on information you provide, basically the name of a band you dig. As you vote on the songs the station plays, the website alters the playlist.
To make a long story short, you type in a band you love, this tool will help you find some new music. This is similar software that can be found on other web-radio sites, but Pandora takes it a step further by analyzing each song as it’s played and applying that logic to try and understand what you dig. I dig, I dig.
Sprinkle Brigade is the SHIT!
Tuesday, September 25th, 2007Well Sprinkle Brigade is the shit, and it is all about shit. Not since Mr. Hankey has such a great amount of hilarity come out of an ass-hole. These guys walk around NYC and decorate doggie doo to make it look funny, then they take a picture so that you can laugh, it is eco-friendly comedy at it’s finest! Just think, if you ever step on one of their pieces of “street-art” you might actually get a kick out of your shit-covered kicks.
Check out the gallery! It’s the shi…well you get the idea. Everybody poops y’all.

Threadless
Saturday, February 17th, 2007
About the same time I got involved with the fashion biz, these guys were coming to market with a kick-ass website, and a lean and efficient business model. Well…ALAKAZAM! They are pretty big now. They are kind of a big deal. $25 million in sales is a bloody big deal!
Well they certainly don’t need my dap, but I’ll still give it where it is due. They have come correct, and grown without completely screwing up their products, or alienating their base, respekt! But…as the community has grown some of the winning designs have become a little less funky fresh. More frat boys have their fingers on the voting buttons these days, and it may only be a matter of time before a shirt with a picture of a rooster and “cock” written under it wins. (sigh) But this is still a great site, and the “Threadless Select” tees are still coming quite strong. Threadless deserves a “Rockin’ Steady” award for keeping to the straight and narrow…and fresh.
Def check Threadless Select.
