The Chase Part Three - Obama Award Tour

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

The design re-imagines the classic A Tribe Called Quest, Midnight Marauders album cover art, replacing all of the 90s hip hop heavies with pictures of Barack Obama. The back of the shirt uses a quote from the album, “non believers you can check the stats” in the classic Tribe Called Quest yellow font.

Plus, all proceeds go to support voter registration, and to print more Obama t-shirts! (Campaign finance laws prevent us from donating directly to any campaign. Please note we are not affiliated with Obama for America.) Get the shirt, get active, and VOTE!

Renegades of Their Time and Age…

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

The Chicago version of the Renegade Craft Fair was serving up independent fashion gems Sept. 15 & 16. We sell some brands that were reppin’ indie fashion at Renegade, and we will be adding a bunch more to Always Urban in the next month!

Sprinkle Brigade is the SHIT!

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

Well Sprinkle Brigade is the shit, and it is all about shit. Not since Mr. Hankey has such a great amount of hilarity come out of an ass-hole. These guys walk around NYC and decorate doggie doo to make it look funny, then they take a picture so that you can laugh, it is eco-friendly comedy at it’s finest! Just think, if you ever step on one of their pieces of “street-art” you might actually get a kick out of your shit-covered kicks.

Check out the gallery! It’s the shi…well you get the idea. Everybody poops y’all.Sprinkle Brigade is the SHIT!

Beautiful/Decay

Beautiful/Decay
This magazine gets perfect marks when it comes to repping urban art and culture. The magazine was started to bridge the gap between street and gallery art. The magazine has gained a loyal following, and really illustrates that a whole generation of artists have been combining street, art, and pop culture into the sort of art that makes me all warm inside. B/D will drop some good music and fashion nuggets as well. Definitely give their online edition a look.

Streetsy

Friday, February 16th, 2007

At Streetsy.com their goal is “to create the largest curated street art site on the web,” and I think they can claim that starting…now. Well, probably long before this post actually. The collection is HUUUGE. The curator, Jake, adds pictures every day. But the online exhibit really blows up over at Flickr.com, at the Streetsy photo pool. Here people from all over the world post pictures of great street art and there have been almost 50,000 pictures added to date. It’s refreshing to know that all these bits of expression are living all around us.

The Wooster Collective

From the Wooster Collective.
The body of work that this group has put together and cataloged is an amazing cross-section of thought out and beautifully executed art put in public spots by hyper-talented folks.  They are named after an area of Soho that is worth a look for anyone in need of a pilgrimage. Definitely check it out.
